What legal obligations apply when using AI?
The EU AI Act requires companies, organizations, and public institutions to deploy artificial intelligence in a lawful, transparent, and responsible manner. Key requirements include mandatory AI literacy in accordance with Article 4 of the EU AI Act, a risk-based assessment of AI systems, and full compliance with the GDPR.
These obligations apply regardless of industry or organization size and form part of an organization’s general duty of care. In the event of damage or liability claims, missing or undocumented AI training may be considered a breach of legal obligations.
